Join us for a fun-filled day for all the family and celebrate the restoration of of the historic Union Chain Bridge on its 203rd anniversary!

We will be staging a whole range of creative activities and traditional games at Paxton House inspired by the bridge.  What can you make with giant building blocks? Take the walk through the grounds along the riverbank to the bridge itself, see the original painting of the bridge when new and the portrait of its builder, Captain Samuel Brown, visit the pop-up craft market and enjoy our summer menu in the Stables Tearoom.

This event is spread across four venues with a free shuttle bus between each one. Just over the river, in Horncliffe Memorial Hall – the Friends of Union Chain Bridge will be telling you the story of the bridge, illustrated with archives and artefacts in Horncliffe Memorial Hall; Chain Bridge Honey Farm  are running science and technology activities alongside tours of the bee garden; at the Union Chain Bridge itself, tours are running at 1pm and 3pm.
