Paxton House hosts the last remaining salmon netting station on the River Tweed. Watching the traditional fishing technique is to experience an activity which has changed little for centuries. In the past, salmon fishing with nets was the mainstay of the local economy. Today, salmon fished here are strictly for vital scientific study and the catch is tagged and returned to the river.
