THE MAIN HOUSE
Paxton House offers all the Palladian grandeur you could dream of as a setting for your wedding or bespoke event. Our grand columned portico and our neo-classical interiors will give your day a period glamour that will transport you to another world. Release your inner Jane Austen.
Opulence and splendour
THE PICTURE GALLERY
The grandest room at Paxton House, ideally suited for large gatherings and parties, is the top-lit Regency Picture Gallery. Renowned for its superb acoustics, rich Victorian colour scheme and elegant Steinway grand piano, this is a room with flair where you can celebrate under the gaze of masterpieces of national importance. Here, we can accommodate up to 120 seated guests and can host a band, DJ or pianist.
FUN & FLEXIBILITY
THE MARQUEE
Paxton House Marquee has one of the most stunning views in the country, overlooking the river Tweed and the Union Chain Bridge. The marquee can accommodate up to 200 and is our largest licenced venue. It leads onto Paxton House’s main lawns, perfect for strolling and garden games. If a sense of space is what you are seeking, this is your place.
Intimate Gatherings by the River
THE BOATHOUSE
For smaller gatherings, it is hard to beat the Boathouse down by the riverside. Built for Victorian fishing expeditions on the river Tweed which flows right past its door, the rustic Boathouse can accommodate up to 30 guests and has a special romance all its own. It combines perfectly with the tree lined outdoor space along the riverbank. Your guests could move from the Boathouse to the Marquee for a much larger party afterwards.
Simple and adaptable
THE HAYLOFT
Paxton’s Hayloft is a versatile and very private space with an appealing simplicity. The room offers infinite opportunities to theme and dress in your own style and can accommodate up to 60 guests. Simple and modern, it has its own dedicated entrance, kitchen and toilets. It works equally well for receptions, meetings, dinners and lunches, weddings, parties, exhibitions and launches.
En Plein Air
OUTDOOR EVENTS
We are lucky to have one of the most beautiful locations in the Scottish Borders overlooking the river Tweed and the Cheviot Hills of Northumberland. We can accommodate up to 150 on the lawns on the South Front with Paxton House as your backdrop or up to 30 on the riverbank in the summer. (We’ll help you with a rain plan as well!)
