Entrance Hall

The entrance hall is almost a perfect cube in shape – a Palladian architectural feature. The plasterwork is Rococo in style with S and C shaped scrolls, shells, flowers, and Ho ho birds featuring. It is remarkable work by an 18-year-old plasterer from Kelso called George Morrison. He also did the plaster decoration in the main staircase. These two spaces were the only ones completed prior to Patrick Home loosing interest in Paxton, then renting the house and then selling it to his nephew Ninian Home in 1773.
