This room is a formal space designed to impress guests with the wealth and elegant taste of the family, displayed both by the interior decoration and the furnishings. It was furnished by Ninian and Penelope Home with furniture from the Chippendale firm in 1774-76. The ceiling is by Robert Adam. It is highly likely that the Chippendale firm completed the decorative scheme as everything interlinks with the same delicate, neoclassical patterns. Husks, ribands, paterae, and arabesques adorn the walls, doors, vases, mirrors, and furniture.
