This room is called the Alcove bedroom because the bed was situated in the alcove to keep it away from draughts. In the 18^th century this was a guest bedroom. In the 20^th century, it was John and Catherine Home Robertson’s bedroom (the last owners of Paxton House, prior to John giving the House and 80 acres of land to the Nation).
