In a remarkably unaltered state, with some original linen upholstery, this winged chair was made to match the six painted ‘Star back’ chairs, including two armchairs, supplied by Chippendale Snr for the Principal Bedroom at Paxton. It was amongst the first furniture made for Paxton commissioned by Ninian and Penelope Home using their profits from enslaved labour and trade.
