Description

Worn by Patrick Home at the court of King Frederick the Great of Prussia.

This coat in made from mulled or felted wool cloth. It’s high round neckline, full-length sleeves with broad square cuffs, and wide skirt with triple pleats were highly fashionable.

It is decorated with gilt embroidery including purl work over sequin trails and gilt wire covered buttons. It is lined with a pale brown-grey silk, with later khaki silk re-lining in the body front.
