History

Paxton House is a Neo-classical gem which dates from the 1750s. The Regency wing was added by George Home in 1814 to provide space to display his uncle’s collection of paintings. He created one of the first and largest private picture galleries in Scotland. The rooms beneath, which now form the Garden Apartment, were part of a series of rooms originally provided for the Home family’s servants at Paxton.
