Caribbean Connections Celebration Day

On Saturday 4 June 2022, the Paxton House Trust hosted for an extraordinary day of celebration.  Families of African-Caribbean heritage, members of London-based group Descendants, joined local families from the Scottish Borders in a day of activities exploring ways in which Paxton House brings together their diverse histories, encompassing culture, commerce and slavery. The families joined in with some cross-cultural activities and explored our new exhibitions, Parallel Lives, Worlds Apart and Sugar & Slavery. As you will see from the video record of the day, it was all great fun and very rewarding, building upon the earlier education programme and making some lasting connections.

Enjoy a video of the highlights here.

Many thanks to the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, Museums Galleries Scotland and the Paxton Trust for sponsoring the day.
