Camper Vans and Caravans Welcome!

We are expanding our Walled Garden Caravan Park, one of the hidden secrets of Paxton House and it will be open to visitors from April 2022.  For those in the know, the Caravan Park has proved the perfect base for holidays in the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland. Park your van here and you are only 5 miles from the Georgian harbour town of Berwick-upon-Tweed with its Elizabethan walls and many original shops, bars and restaurants. Some of Britain’s best sandy beaches are in easy reach or you can explore the rugged cliffs and seabird colonies of the National Nature Reserve at St Abbs Head. Add in some of the best walking in the country to discover on both sides of the Border and it is not surprising that Paxton’s Caravan Park is one of our best kept secrets.

The secret is that all visitors to the Caravan Park, which welcomes all camper vans and caravans but not tents, have special privileged after-hours access to the grounds of Paxton House for romantic strolling or family games in the Woodland Playground or evening picnics by the river Tweed. You are only 50 metres from the Entrance Portico of Paxton House for daytime visits and in the midst of Georgian parkland and historic gardens.

We’ve been laying new access routes and setting out hard surfaces to make it easy to navigate, adding electricity and water points but always keeping the large areas of grass which contrast so well with the red sandstone walls.

The Caravan Park itself is neatly divided into individual sites to give every visitor a little privacy but with communal areas to socialise.  The whole Park is enclosed within the sheltered walls of our Georgian walled garden.  Where once gardeners toiled over cabbages and carrots, now you can be sure of a relaxing holiday tucked away from the rest of the world.  Book now for dates from Friday 1 April 2022.
