Shakespeare Art Exhibition
August 6 @ 10:00 am - September 6 @ 5:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00am, repeating indefinitely
William Shakespeare is the inspiration for an art exhibition being held in the Hayloft Gallery at Paxton House from 6th of August continuing through the summer season. All work is for sale by artists from Scotland and the North of England.
Angela Proctor (from the Berwick area) studied at Edinburgh Art College and became a tutor at Edinburgh Napier University. Being a professional member of ‘Visual Arts Scotland’, she is a regular exhibitor at the Scottish Academy and other Edinburgh Galleries. She was delighted to be asked to contribute work for Paxton House as it gave her a chance to show off her work locally. For many years the ‘complete works of Shakespeare’ has been on the shelf in her studio. Over the last few months Angela has created fresh, experimental and original pictures in mixed media for the show.
Jancis Courtney (from Paxton village) has illustrated flowers mentioned in songs, sonnets and plays by Shakespeare. Wonderful selections of paintings and photographs have been selected for the hanging. Anne Hickey and Margaret Scott from the Isle of Skye who worked on the ‘Great Tapestry of Scotland’ are also showing some work.
In past years, themed shows around the writing of Robbie Burns and James Hogg (the Ettrick shepherd) have staged in the Hayloft Gallery. We hope you can join us at the Shakespeare exhibition.
